The nomination period for the 2010 William E. Simon Prize for Philanthropic Leadership has now closed. Please check back again for nomination information about the 2011 prize.
The William E. Simon Prize honors living philanthropists who have shown exemplary leadership through their charitable giving, directly or through the foundations they have created. The William E. Simon Foundation created this prize to further Simon’s ideals and principles of personal responsibility, resourcefulness, volunteerism, scholarship, individual freedom, faith in God, and helping people to help themselves. The prize highlights the power of philanthropy to achieve positive change and seeks to inspire others to support charities that achieve genuine results.
The recipient of the William E. Simon prize receives a $250,000 award, payable to the charity of his or her choice. The 2009 recipients were Philip and Nancy Anschutz of Denver, the founders of the Anschutz Foundation. Previous recipients include
