Alex Cranberg
Chairman, Aspect Holdings
Alex Cranberg is chairman of Aspect Holdings, an energy holding company managing a 2008 E&P capital budget of over $300 million and of which he is the majority owner. Prior to founding Aspect in 1992, he oversaw General Atlantic Partners’ successful petroleum investments and worked as an operations and reservoir engineer for Houston Oil and Minerals Corporation. Mr. Cranberg’s philanthropic efforts are focused on promoting competition and choice in education. He is also active in political and policy-related efforts to promote prosperity and freedom in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Cranberg was the original founder of the ACE Scholarship Foundation, which has awarded over $30 million to inner-city children to attend private and parochial schools. He also served on the board of trustees of Metro State College in Denver. Mr. Cranberg was named to the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Hall of Fame in 2009. He received a B.S. in petroleum engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from Stanford University.
