Jeffrey J. Cain
President and executive director, Arthur N. Rupe Foundation
Jeffrey J. Cain is president and executive director of the Santa Barbara, California–based Arthur N. Rupe Foundation. He is also secretary of the Lillian S. Wells Foundation, executive publisher of Philanthropy Daily, and founding partner at American Philanthropic. Mr. Cain is also the author of The Philanthropy Roundtable’s 2011 guidebook Securing Your Legacy: What Every Philanthropist Needs to Know about Preserving Donor Intent. Prior to joining the Rupe Foundation, Mr. Cain served as executive vice president at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a national educational nonprofit committed to advancing a traditional liberal arts curriculum and the study of Western civilization. Mr. Cain previously taught in the English department at Washington State University (where he received his M.A. and Ph.D. in English literature), founded a research nonprofit (the Columbia Public Interest Policy Institute), worked on various political campaigns in his native state of Washington, and served in the United States Marine Corps.
