Leonard Gilroy
Director of government reform, Reason Foundation
Leonard “Len” Gilroy is director of government reform at the Reason Foundation, a nonprofit think tank advancing free minds and free markets. A certified urban planner, he researches privatization, government reform, transportation, infrastructure, and urban policy issues. He has worked closely with legislators and elected officials across the country, including Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Gov. Bob McDonnell of Virginia, to design and implement market-based policy approaches, improve government performance, enhance accountability, and reduce government spending. Mr. Gilroy is the editor of Privatization Watch and the Annual Privatization Report. He also edits Reason’s annual Innovators in Action report, which profiles public sector innovators. His articles have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Post, the Weekly Standard, the Washington Times, and the San Francisco Examiner. Prior to joining Reason, Mr. Gilroy was a senior planner at a Louisiana-based urban planning consulting firm. He also worked as a research assistant at the Virginia Center for Coal and Energy Research at Virginia Tech, where he earned his B.A. and M.A. in urban and regional planning.
