Michael O’Neill
Founder and CEO, Preferred Unlimited and Preferred Sands
Michael O’Neill is founder and CEO of Preferred Unlimited and Preferred Sands, which constitute a privately held investment and operating company. Mr. O’Neill began his career with First Pennsylvania Bank in 1984 with a focus on lending to aggregate and mining process companies. In 1988, he formed O’Neill Properties with his brother, and in 1992, he founded Preferred Real Estate Investments. In 2005, he left the real estate market and returned to his roots in the industrial minerals industry, beginning to acquire aggregate/industrial mineral companies in late 2006. Mr. O’Neill is actively involved in local communities and government. He is chairman of Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS), a nonprofit organization supporting Catholic schools in the Philadelphia area. He is also co-founder of the Philadelphia Schools Partnership, a board member of the Mastery Charter Schools, and chairman of the High Tech High Foundation in Philadelphia. Mr. O’Neill holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Villanova University and a J.D. from Temple University.
