Peter S. Lynch
Co-founder, Lynch Foundation
Peter S. Lynch is co-founder and treasurer of the Lynch Foundation. He is vice chairman of Fidelity Management & Research Company and an advisory board member of the Fidelity Funds. Mr. Lynch was a portfolio manager of Fidelity Magellan Fund, which was the best-performing fund in the world under his leadership from 1977 to 1990. When he took over Magellan Fund, it had $20 million in assets. By the time he retired from the fund, it had grown to over $14 billion in assets and had over a million shareholders. Mr. Lynch is the author of two best-selling books, One Up on Wall Street and Beating The Street. He also co-authored Learn to Earn. Mr. Lynch has been actively involved with numerous civic and nonprofit organizations. He has been recognized with several awards for his efforts, including the National Catholic Education Association Seton Award, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children Family Award, and the United Way Bay Leadership Award. For 20 years he was chairman of the Inner City Scholarship Fund and helped raise over $100 million in partial scholarships for children living in the inner city of Boston and attending Catholic schools. Prior to joining Fidelity, Mr. Lynch served in the U.S. Army, received his undergraduate degree from Boston College, and earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
