Sally C. Pipes
Founder and board member, Benjamin Rush Society
Sally C. Pipes is founder and a member of the board of visitors of the Benjamin Rush Society, a national association of medical students, physicians, and health professionals that educates the public about the relationship between government and the practice of medicine. Ms. Pipes is also president and CEO of the Pacific Research Institute, a San Francisco–based free-market think tank. Ms. Pipes writes, speaks, debates, and gives invited testimony at the national and state levels on key healthcare issues facing America. She is a monthly columnist for the Washington Examiner, and her writing frequently appears in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, USA Today, the Financial Times, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and other outlets. Ms. Pipes is the author of The Top Ten Myths of American Health Care: A Citizen’s Guide and Miracle Cure: How to Solve America’s Health Care Crisis and Why Canada Isn’t the Answer. Prior to joining PRI in 1991, Ms. Pipes was assistant director of the Vancouver, B.C.–based Fraser Institute and director and vice chairman of the British Columbia Financial Institutions Commission. She served on the medical advisory council of Genworth Financial’s long-term care insurance division in 2006, as well as several other civic and nonprofit boards and commissions.
