Protecting Your Right to Give
The Philanthropy Roundtable is actively combatting the anti-philanthropy rhetoric that threatens your right to give. Groups like Patriotic Millionaires and the Initiative to Accelerate Charitable Giving claim to seek “common sense” reforms for philanthropy, but they have proposed sweeping legislative and regulatory changes that would radically alter the landscape for philanthropists.
These initiatives and others are funneling millions of dollars toward efforts that we believe hamstring philanthropists and private foundations, making it harder for you to support important work happening on the ground in communities across the country. That is both wrong-headed and short-sighted.
The Philanthropy Roundtable aims to aggressively fight these initiatives in the months ahead, and we are excited to share news that is going to help us do this at a much greater scale through the end of 2021. An anonymous donor has generously agreed to provide a $250,000 matching grant that will enable us to promote philanthropic freedom and actively combat these punitive proposals at the federal and state levels.
If you are interested in helping the Roundtable promote philanthropic freedom, we invite you to invest in this effort with a special contribution that will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $250,000.
Over the past year, the Roundtable has:
- Helped secure seven major policy wins across five states, and we’re positioned to attain four additional policy wins at the state and federal levels this year.
- Placed 27 op-eds in major media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal.
- Hosted 18 webinars on topics like donor intent, philanthropic freedom and political polarization, reaching over 1,400 attendees.
There is much more work to do, and the Roundtable is fighting for your right to give how and when you choose. We are proud of the work that you do, we are honored to partner with you and we hope you’ll join with us by making a donation today.
