Tony Mayer

Tony Mayer joined The Philanthropy Roundtable in 2019 as director of economic opportunity programs.

Prior to joining the Roundtable, Tony spent six years working in the workforce development and entrepreneurship field with two Houston based nonprofits—The WorkFaith Connection and the Prison Entrepreneurship Program (PEP). The WorkFaith Connection assists those coming out of homelessness, addiction and incarceration with finding employment and a new life. PEP works with men and women in the Texas prison system who are still incarcerated and teaches them leadership, character development and entrepreneurship skills so that their past does not define their future. He has also served as a board member for several nonprofit organizations in Houston.

Before his nonprofit career, he spent more than 30 years in the corporate insurance and risk management field with a focus on client management and development in the energy industry.

Tony received an A.B. in history from Princeton University and has also attended continuing education courses at Rice University. He and his wife Susan have two adult daughters, Charlotte and Louisa, and live in Houston.
