Steven Bartholomew is executive director of New Legacy Charter School. Mr. Bartholomew began his career as a speech and debate coach in South Dakota. After moving to Rhode Island, he served for four years as an advisor and teacher and for eleven years as principal at The Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center, a part of Big Picture Learning. “The Met” is recognized by Tech Insider as one of the 13 most innovative schools in the world. Mr. Bartholomew is a winner of the Ted Sizer Award for Innovative Leadership and recipient of the Presidential Scholar Distinguished Teacher Award. Recently, his article “How One Conversation Transformed My Son’s Future Forever” was published in Education Reimagined. He earned a bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree from Northeastern University.
