John Jackson

John Jackson is the co-founder and executive vice president of Hoplin Jackson Charitable Advisors, a boutique consulting company that advises private foundations and high net worth clients on their charitable giving.   He spent nearly 30 years helping guide the philanthropy of the Denver-based Adolph Coors Foundation and served for a decade as its executive director.   During his tenure, the Foundation assumed a national leadership role in protecting the freedom and privacy of charitable donors.  John is a highly respected advisor on philanthropy and has offered his insights on effective and innovative grantmaking to audiences of donors, policy makers, and thought leaders.

Jackson has taken a leadership role in a variety of nonprofits, including terms as chairman of both the Denver-area chapter of the March of Dimes and the Colorado Storm Soccer Association. He served previously as a board member of the State Policy Network.

Much of Jackson’s insight and judgement comes from years as a self-employed small business owner.  In the early 1990s, he founded and grew a successful mortgage brokerage, offering A-paper first and second residential mortgages.  A long-time resident of Colorado, Jackson graduated summa cum laude from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, and served for seven years on the staff of U.S. Senator Bill Armstrong both in Washington, D.C., and in Colorado.

Jackson and his wife, Debbie, love the Colorado outdoors and enjoy spending time with their three grown sons and their spouses/girlfriends, and four grandchildren.
