Saru Jayaraman

Saru Jayaraman is co-founder and president of the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC United) and director of the Food Labor Research Center at University of California, Berkeley. She is author of national bestseller Behind the Kitchen Door and Forked: A New Standard for American Dining. Ms. Jayaraman was recognized as one of CNN’s “Top 10 Visionary Women,” a Champion of Change by the White House, and is a recipient of the James Beard Foundation Leadership Award. Ms. Jayaraman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s degree from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, and a law degree from Yale Law School.
