James Perry is co-founder and managing director of Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP), a private equity firm based in Chicago. He joined MDP’s predecessor firm, First Chicago Venture Capital, in 1984. Mr. Perry is the lead investor in Sunshine Enterprises and has also provided major financial support for Madonna Campus. He sits on several corporate boards of directors including Asurion Corporation, Intermedia.net, and The Topps Company. He chairs the board of Empower Illinois and serves on the board for the Lab for Economic Opportunity at the University of Notre Dame. He is also a member of the University of Chicago Booth School’s Private Equity Council at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Mr. Perry earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
