Jim Piereson is president and trustee of the William E. Simon Foundation. Mr. Piereson is also a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Public Policy in New York City. Mr. Piereson was executive director and trustee of the John M. Olin Foundation from 1985 through 2005. Prior to joining the J. M. Olin Foundation, he served on the political science faculties of several universities, including Iowa State University, Indiana University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Piereson is the author most recently of Shattered Consensus: The Rise and Decline of America’s Postwar Political Order. He has published articles and reviews in numerous journals and newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Commentary. Mr. Piereson serves on the boards of several nonprofits including The Pinkerton Foundation, the Thomas W. Smith Foundation, The Center for Individual Rights, and the Foundation for Cultural Review, where he serves as chairman. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate from Michigan State University.
