David Scanavino, M.D. is a board member of the Puerto Rico Education Foundation and a recognized healthcare executive who has combined an active clinical practice with 30 years of managed care experience involving corporate, payer, and provider perspectives in multiple competitive health care markets in both Puerto Rico and the U.S. Dr. Scanavino’s experience includes serving as co-founder and executive vice president of MMM Healthcare, Puerto Rico’s first Medicare Advantage health plan; CEO of Physician Health Partners, a large managed services organization in Denver, Colorado; national medical director of Metlife Healthcare Management Corporation; and national medical director for national accounts of United Healthcare. He is currently engaged in several philanthropic projects in Puerto Rico and Denver and is chairman of the MCS Foundation. After serving on the boards of the Denver Scholarship Foundation, the Still Museum Foundation, and the Denver Hospice, he founded two charter schools in northeast Denver. Dr. Scanavino is a strong advocate for education reform in Puerto Rico. He earned a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and a medical degree from Case Western Reserve University.
