Robert Pondiscio is a senior fellow and vice president for external affairs at the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. He is also a senior adviser to Democracy Prep Public Schools, a network of charter schools based in Harlem, New York. Prior to joining the institute, he served as vice president of the Core Knowledge Foundation. Previously, Mr. Pondiscio spent 20 years working in journalism and held senior positions at TIME and BusinessWeek before becoming a fifth-grade teacher. His articles and op-ed columns on education have appeared in publications including The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, the New York Daily News, and Education Next. Mr. Pondiscio earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York Empire State College and a master’s degree from Mercy College.
