Amity Shlaes is chairman of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation. Previously, she served on the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal and as a columnist for the Financial Times and Bloomberg. She taught at New York University's Stern School of Business and The King's College. Ms. Shlaes is the author of four New York Times national bestsellers: The Greedy Hand: How Taxes Drive Americans Crazy, Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression, Forgotten Man: Graphic, and Coolidge. Her forthcoming book is Great Society: Socialism and Capitalism in the 1960s. Ms. Shlaes earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and studied at the Free University of Berlin on a DAAD fellowship.
