Martin West is an associate professor of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economics, and editor-in-chief of Education Next, a journal of opinion and research on education policy. He previously worked as senior adviser to the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, taught at Brown University, and was a research fellow at the Brookings Institution. He also serves as deputy director of Harvard’s Program on Education Policy and Governance. He is a board member of the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, Rhode Island Mayoral Academies, and Building Excellent Schools. Mr. West earned a doctorate from Harvard University.
