Leslie Winner is the former executive director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. She currently serves as a consultant to nonprofits on issues related to public education. Ms. Winner is a lawyer with a 42-year career of public service in North Carolina. Previously, she served as vice president of and general counsel to the University of North Carolina, and as a member of the North Carolina Senate. She is the recipient of Northeastern University School of Law’s Award for Outstanding Public Interest Advocacy and the NC School Boards Association Friend of Education Award. She serves on the boards of the NC Justice Center and MDC and is co-chair of the NC Leadership Forum. Ms. Winner earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a juris doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law.
