WASHINGTON – Philanthropy Roundtable applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for swiftly passing the U.S. Senate’s version of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) that champions pro-growth policies while reinforcing America’s proud tradition of charitable giving. This legislation expands tax benefits and safeguards vital giving incentives, empowering everyday Americans to give more freely and enabling nonprofits to serve their communities more effectively.

“The extension of President Donald J. Trump’s 2017 tax cuts provides the freedom and opportunity needed to create a stronger and more prosperous America. The ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ keeps more money where it belongs — in the hands of hardworking Americans and the communities they care about. By unleashing economic growth, President Trump is strengthening the engine of generosity, which empowers local, private solutions to challenges that our government cannot and should not provide,” said Philanthropy Roundtable President and CEO Christie Herrera.

“We are deeply grateful to the members of Congress who defended charitable giving by stopping a harmful private foundation tax hike that would have devastated organizations supporting those in need across the country. Their leadership ensures that more resources go to those who guard and support our free society — not into the bureaucratic machinery of Washington.”

Philanthropy Roundtable has been a leading voice in the fight against a proposed tax hike on private foundations, which would target nearly 2,900 charitable foundations across the country, reducing dollars available for grantmaking to nonprofits doing critical work on the ground.
