Film Celebrates “Colorado at 150: A Legacy of Caring. A Future of Purpose.”

As our nation marks 250 years, Colorado reaches its own remarkable milestone of 150 years of statehood. This anniversary is more than a historical marker. It is a moment to recognize a legacy of generosity that has shaped Colorado since 1876.

For a century and a half, the state has demonstrated what community investment from regional philanthropy can mean for a place and its people. Colorado’s story offers a powerful example of how innovation in giving can create meaningful and lasting impact for millions.

Colorado at 150 — A Legacy of Caring. A Future of Purpose.” is a two-part film project that explores this enduring philanthropic spirit.

Through stories of community, innovation and impact, this project reveals how giving has become part of Colorado’s identity. Time and again, Coloradans have found ways to meet needs, strengthen communities and create opportunity. It’s a tradition that started in the earliest days of statehood and continues today, woven into everyday life.

Created for longtime supporters of the nonprofit community and those newly inspired to engage, the project aims to foster pride, connection and action. The project is generously supported by the Adolph Coors FoundationAnschutz FoundationBoettcher FoundationDaniels Fund and the El Pomar Foundation

The Adolph Coors Foundation is a leader in protecting donor intent and strengthening Colorado by investing in youth programs, adult work programs, entrepreneurship, integrative medicine and public policy. Jeff and Pete Coors were the 2024 recipients of the Simon-DeVos Prize for Philanthropic Leadership.

The Anschutz Foundation strengthens communities by supporting organizations that expand access to high-quality health care, education and human services across Colorado. They are also a leading voice for protecting the freedom to give and donor privacy.

The Boettcher Foundation has been uplifting communities in Colorado for 87 years by funding several high-impact grants: Community Connections, Leadership Practitioner Catalyst Grants, Rural Catalyst Grants and Webb-Waring Biomedical Research Awards.

The Daniels Fund is driven by the vision of its founder, Bill Daniels, who believed in making life better one individual at a time. That commitment continues today across Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming through grants and scholarships that open doors and expand opportunity. A recent Free to Give video highlights this mission in action. It showcases the partnership between the Daniels Fund and ACE Scholarships, illustrating how “investing one life at a time” can strengthen families and transform communities.

The El Pomar Foundation promotes the current and future well-being of the people of Colorado by investing in arts and culture, civic and community initiatives, education, health and human services. Their deep commitment to developing nonprofit leadership in Colorado creates a multiplying effect on their incredible impact across the state.
