New Opportunities for Philanthropy to Drive Impact in Mental Health

New Opportunities for Philanthropy to Drive Impact in Mental Health

The pursuit of human flourishing is complex and nuanced. It depends not only on physical health and economic opportunity, but also on strong mental and emotional well-being.

Given the rapidly evolving nature of the mental health field and in recognition of the October 10 World Mental Health Day 2025, Philanthropy Roundtable is proud to expand our Mental Health Playbook with seven new high-impact organizations addressing mental health nationwide. With generous support from our philanthropic partners, this resource highlights exceptional groups offering scalable, practical approaches to improving the mental health of Americans.

Today, visionary organizations are stepping up with innovative approaches that expand access to quality care and resources, reduce stigma and strengthen resilience in individuals, families and communities. The Mental Health Playbook includes organizations which have been vetted through Philanthropy Roundtable’s due diligence evaluation process. Learn more about them below:

Fathers’ UpLift, Inc. empowers fathers, particularly men of color, who face barriers to involvement in their children’s lives. By combining therapy, mentorship and family-centered services, the organization strengthens families and breaks cycles of trauma.

Give an Hour exists to strengthen individuals and communities by delivering practical and personalized mental health support that meets people where they are. Their mission is to develop resilient individuals and communities and grow our social impact through responsive, scalable, individualized mental health programs aimed at closing access and delivery gaps to mental health care.

Harvard’s Human Flourishing Program conducts cutting-edge research on the pathways that promote resilience, well-being and meaning. Its work translates academic insight into practical tools that can improve public policy and inform philanthropic investments in mental health.

Intentional Sports builds resilience and connection for youth and families through sports, mentoring and leadership development. By creating safe spaces for belonging and growth, the organization helps young people build confidence, character and emotional strength.

Screen Sanity equips parents and communities with practical, research-informed resources to guide kids in building healthy relationships with technology. Whether through home discussions, school workshops or community events, Screen Sanity helps families set boundaries to reduce digital overload and strengthen emotional well-being.

The Gender Dysphoria Institute is advancing research, training and dialogue to help families, clinicians and communities address crucial knowledge gaps in mental health and societal contributors to gender dysphoria.

The Warrior’s Journey creates digital and community-based resources for members of the military, first responders and their families. They offer a no red-tape 24-hour crisis hotline, case management support and additional suicide intervention efforts. By offering faith-informed and practical tools, the organization addresses the unique mental and emotional challenges faced by those who serve on the front lines.

As World Mental Health Day 2025 reminds us, mental health is a universal human concern and a vital foundation for thriving societies. Philanthropy has a historic opportunity to catalyze solutions that promote resilience, expand access and create pathways to flourishing. By supporting the high-impact organizations featured in our Mental Health Playbook, donors can help strengthen the mental well-being of individuals, families and communities for generations to come.
